
During the month of October Yokogawa UK Ltd will be running a TUV certified Functional Safety Engineer training course at their Aberdeen office. A brief overview of the course is provided here and further information can be obtained from Yokogawa Ireland.
Course Objective
The objective is to provide instrument engineers, application engineers, site engineers, project managers, operation engineers, maintenance engineers and all those who are involved in the design, realisation, maintenance and operation of safety systems with elementary and necessary knowledge about functional safety, based on the international standards IEC 61508 and IEC 61511.
Who should attend?
Engineers and Managers working in the area of functional safety who require formal recognition through a certified body. Anyone involved in the areas below may benefit from this course:
• Lifecycle management of Functional Safety – documentation, maintenance, modifications etc.
• Hazard and risk analysis giving rise to a safety requirements specification for safety-related systems
• System design and implementation to meet safety requirements specification
• Management of Functional Safety – competency management, interfaces between duty holders etc.
Prerequisite Knowledge
Participants should have 3-years experience in the field of Functional Safety plus a recognised academic
qualification or equivalent engineer level responsibilities status as certified by the employer.
Course Overview
The training will be run consecutively over 3.5-days. Participants will receive training material at the start of the training, including hand outs of the PowerPoint presentations and exercise sheets.
